The following includes paintings from the show, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, on view at  the William King Museum’s Art Lab from December 2024 – January 2025.

In this collection, J. Patrick King pays homage to the heroes who are profoundly shaping his artistic practice. He draws inspiration from a wide range of visionary artists — from Bob Dylan’s visual art and poetic storytelling to members of Black Mountain College, such as Josef and Anni Albers and Robert Rauschenberg, as well as other influential artists like Jasper Johns. The bold experimentation and interdisciplinary approach of these artists resonate deeply in his work, guiding his ongoing exploration of narratives, scales, and mediums during his time at the Art Lab Emerging Artist Residency.
